The award winning Eagles Band marched towards the beginning of a new season on Monday, Aug. 1, with the start of band camp. Enduring the summer heat, the band meets everyday from 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m., learning the new routine for the upcoming marching season.

“The first minute they meet you they really treat you like family,” explained Patricia Thomas, freshman Colorguard member.

Band Director, Bradley Bonebrake, explained, “We (the directors) will see these kids more than their families will over the next few weeks.”

The next three weeks of camp will culminate with the Eagles Band first performance on August 18, at 8:15 p.m. at the Lake Ridge JV Football Stadium during “Meet the Techer” night.

“I expect us to do well  in every single competition this year,” said Scott Sanders, sophomore. “Our energy is a lot higher and we are going to work very hard this year and do the best we can.”

The theme of the band performance for the 2016-17 season is “Man vs. Machine”.
