The award winning Lake Ridge Marching Band added yet another trophy to their collection.

On Sept. 24, at the Preview of Champions Marching Tournament was held at the Vernon Newsom Stadium in Mansfield. Bands from around the Metroplex to compete for band supremacy.  The tournament judged the bands on percussion, color guard, music execution, and visual execution.

The Lake Ridge Marching Band finished in second place in the Class D division (based on band size) overall. “I expected the groups to do really well. My expectations were met,” said Alberto Ocasio, Woodwind,  Wind Symphony, Brass, and Marching Band Director.

“Musically and visually, that was our best performance of the year,” bragged Bradlry Bonebrake, Band Director.

The band battled the elements as well with the tournament being suspended twice due to severe weather. “It delayed us for a long time then we had to go out and perform.  We didn’t let the rain stop us.  We stayed focused the whole time,” explained Amanda Mercer, freshman Color Guard member.

The band will be in action again on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Midlothian Marching Showcase at the Midlothian ISD Multi-Purpose Stadium.
