Prince Olowookere, a sophmore, talks about his self-perception, interests, and future aspirations. Olowookere reflects on the brevity of life, not wanting to have regrets and hopes to be authentic. He has a music taste of rap and hip hop, even mentioning his desire to be a rapper, but also has a passion for producing beats. His future plans include rapping, but in the unfortunate situation it doesn’t work out, Olowookere hopes to also consider engineering.
Olowookere describes his self-description and personality as an introvert who gets lost in thought often. He mentions being creative when he wants to be and being decently smart but not outstanding. Olowookere explains that he can be different depending on who he talks to, and emphasizes the importance of being authentic and not putting on a character mask for different people.
“I think I’m an introvert, I get lost in thought a lot. I’m decently smart, but like overall, I’m productive, just an average kid really. I can be really different depending on who I’m talking to,” said Olowookere.
Olowookere discusses his philosophical reflections on life, talking about the brevity of life. He reflects on the inevitability of death and the sadness of knowing that everyone will someday pass away. Olowookere believes that many people waste their lives and procrastinate on things they wanna do. Also expressing a desire to minimize regrets in his own life by being more productive and not wasting time.
“I think life is really short, it’s not a scary thing but I think it’s generally sad. Someday I’m gonna pass and my parents will too. That’s just a generally sad thing to think about right? People are kind of wasting their lives, a lot of stuff that you want to do, you don’t get onto it,” said Olowookere.
Olowookere also talks about his music preferences and influencers, mentioning his favorite artists as Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, and Drake. He explains that he got into rap and hip hop through Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar’s music. Olowookere expresses a desire to start rapping but hasn’t yet, and he also tries producing beats in his free time,
“Sometimes I think about music, I like music. Mostly hip hop, rap, that type of thing. Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar are the two people who really got me into rap and hip hop. The ones who really sparked the interest,” said Olowookere.
Olowookere hobbies and interests include reading manga, and watching youtube frequently, also hoping to take exercise more seriously. He aims to workout at least two to three times a week but can sometimes get lazy. Olowookere manga reading is mostly sci-fi, adventure, and action books, typically waiting for all the manga chapters to come out before he reads them, finding it annoying having to wait .
“I try to exercise at least a few times a week, that’s the goal, and I read. Mostly manga and I find having to wait for a new chapter to come out annoying. Also just watching normal youtube videos,” said Olowookere.
Olowookere’s future aspirations conclude of wanting to be influential, possibly famous for rapping or making different types of beats. Though he wants to do this, he has his concerns about the downside of fame. Olowookere’s backup plan if rapping doesn’t work out is to pursue an engineering degree, as he is currently taking a computer-aided manufacturing and engineering related classes.
“I want to do something influential, even if it’s not necessarily being famous, though I think I could be famous. But if rapping and becoming famous doesnt work out then my backup plan is engineering, it’s the main plan. I heard it was good money and something I’m decently good at,” said Olowookere.
Though Prince Olowookere is just a regular high school sophomore, he has his own interesting facts and perceptions. Showing that we all have our own unique story and talents.
