Hawkins may be a fictional town, but the impact of Stranger Things in the real world is anything but imaginary. As season five approaches, fans everywhere have formed theories, chosen favorite characters, and rewatched past seasons to prepare. With season after season pulling new viewers deeper into the mystery, excitement and curiosity only build.
Many fans have expressed their theories for the new season, taking into account the foreshadowing in previous seasons. They continue to count down the days until the launch of the new season, and emphasize their ongoing excitement. Ava Morales, a freshman, has been rewatching all of the previous seasons for the last two months just to prepare.
“I’ve been watching stranger things for years. I’ve never been more excited for a show to come out and I already have my theories on what is going to happen. My favorite character is definitely Steve Harrington, and I hate to say this but I fear he may end up dying in the new season, but I’m praying that won’t happen,” said Morales.
Based on actor Noah Schnapp’s comments about the season finale, the Stranger Things fandom believes that Vecna will have the biggest impact this season. Many also believe all the monsters that have been shown before will return. Jordan Whitney, a junior, indicates that she is almost positive she knows the ending.
“The unfortunate truth is that I think everyone is going to die. I’m so sad and concerned about Noah Schnapp saying there will be a lot of tears during the finale. Vecna is definitely going to come back but eleven will defeat him for sure this time. I also believe the Demogorgen, and the Mind Flayer will make a return since the gate is basically open,” said Whitney.
As anticipation builds, fans are prepared for a lot of tears and heartbreaking moments in the new season. Mia Collin, a sophomore, discusses her favorite characters and the questions she still has from previous seasons.
“One of my biggest thoughts is, is Max dead? Because we see her in a “coma” but she was technically Venca’s last victim to open the portal. I definitely believe we will see a lot of deaths that will be hard and heartbreaking, along with relationships falling apart, such as Nancy and Jonathan,” said Collin.
While there is a lot of hype around the new season, some fans expressed impatience about the gaps between seasons. The long period of time between seasons has fans worried the ending won’t feel as impactful. Ethan Delgado, a senior, states that he grew up on Stranger Things, only being seven years old when it came out.
“I remember when Stranger Things came out and I was automatically hooked on it. I’m so old now and it’s come so far is genuinely so cool to me because I grew up on this show. I believe no one is going to die, Eleven will kill Vecna and everyone will live happily ever after. That’s quite unrealistic but for my sanity, we can only hope,” said Delgado.
Fans expect this to be the best season yet, given the teasers that have been released, and the attention surrounding it. Logan Reeves, a freshman, talks about his favorite character, and what he presumes his ending will be for the final season.
“Will Byers is my favorite character, and I know it’s kind of a weird opinion but hear me out. He always knows information about the Mind Flayer which I think is super cool. I hope the season ends with them defeating all the monsters and the Mind Flayer leaving Will, but I have a feeling he may end up dying because of his constant history with the upside down,” said Reeves.
Stranger Things holds an important space in fans’ hearts. Whether the fan theories are correct or the ending is a complete surprise, each person has their own personal take on the new season. Despite the long wait for season five, fans can’t wait for one more adventure.
