This past week, tryouts for the new Lake Ridge Eagle Elite Dance Team were held. Many incoming freshman and current students at the school attended the tryouts at Legacy High School. ENN talked to the dance coach herself, Amie Harris, who shared how the tryouts went.

“We had a great turn out for the 2016/2017 Team Tryouts, fifty-two ladies attended the tryout clinic,” explained Mrs. Harris.

As we can imagine selecting dancers can be difficult and cause a lot of pressure since everyone hopes to make the team. Coach Harris explained, “Mansfield ISD conducts the Drill Team tryouts. The candidates learn a dance routine and kick pattern, which is judged and scored by a panel of outside judges. The judges selected 27 Varsity members and 14 Junior Varsity members for the 2016/2017 teams.”

Harris said next year’s team has “great potential” and told ENN, “(I am) excited for next year’s teams. This will be the inaugural year for our Junior Varsity program. Look for them to perform at pep rallies and JV Football games! We will also be taking a trip to New York in the spring and holding our Annual Spring Show! I am excited that the program has grown so much and we have so many students interested in being a part of such a fabulous group of ladies.”

“We are looking for a few good men and ladies to complete our team! The Eagle Elite will be holding interviews for Managers and Escorts for the 2016/2017 school year. If you are interested in interviewing for one of these opportunities, please stop by the dance room May 16th to pick up an application.” Make sure to leave a comment wishing the dancers who tried out good luck and email Amie Harris at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.
