Eagles Pummel Legacy, 56-14
The Lake Ridge Eagles football team defeated the Legacy Broncos 56-14 on a cool Saturday night at Newsom Stadium to remain unbeaten.
The Eagles dominated the game from the start scoring on their first seven possessions of the game. By halftime, the Eagles were up 35-7 and Legacy looked defeated. In the second half, Lake Ridge made it a 42-7 and the back ups were put in, and the Eagles backups still put up two touchdowns.
The Eagles continued their undefeated season improving to 8-0, and clinched a playoff spot. They are the No. 13 ranked team in Texas 4A, and No. 71 team in the U.S. Next, the Eagles are taking on undefeated 8-0 Mansfield Summit, No. 17 in Texas and No. 84 nationally. Kickoff at Vernon Newsom Stadium Oct. 30 is at 7:30 p.m.
Last Saturday, Lake Ridge quarterback Jett Duffey passed for 217 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 114 yards rushing. Running back Duke Carter rushed for 118 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Joseph Rowe, Jason Bean, and Gerard McClain also added rushing touchdowns. The defense stymied a high powered Legacy offense and put them on consistent third and long situations forcing them to punt regularly.
