Boys Soccer Begins Bi-District Playoffs
Lake Ridge boys soccer has earned a spot in the UIL 5A State Soccer Playoffs. The Eagles started their run for a state title with a playoff game against Dallas Kimball Thursday March 24, 2016 at Mansfield’s Vernon Newsom Stadium. The Eagles won impressively with a 9-0 domination over Kimball.
The boys have been a strong team all year and played well as a whole.
Head Soccer Coach Cory Elolf said, “I expect the team to play well together. There has not been one individual that has been outstanding this season and most of our better win this year has been team wins. If we continue to win as a team we will have a chance to make a deep run into playoffs.”
The team is clearly looking for success. They don’t have just one star, so when one guy is struggling, it doesn’t really effect the the team. They also build off of each other and work well as a unit.
Elolf said, “The team has been resilient all season long. No matter what the circumstance has been, the team has found ways to win and have stuck together as a team.”
Now the boys are entering the playoffs and they’re ready, but Coach Elolf wants them all to know, “In preparation to playoffs, they are only guaranteed one game, and to make the most of that one opportunity.”
The Eagles will be back on the field Friday, April 1, against John Tyler at Mesquite Memorial Stadium at 6 p.m.
