Lake Ridge Eagles after winning the game

Lake Ridge started the game off roughly going 3 and out in their first possession, then having their first punt blocked leaving Poteet with excellent field position deep in the Eagle’s own territory.

However the defense, led by Nose Guard Andrew Colon, would rally and recover a fumble getting the ball back to the Eagles offense, who managed to take a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Early in the second quarter things got a little anxious for Lake Ridge as Sophomore Chandler Rogers replaced an injured Jason Bean at quarterback.

In his first action in a Varsity game Rodgers would lead the Eagles to a 14-0 lead at half.

Poteet stormed back in the third quarter scoring 10 points to cut the Eagle’s lead to 14-10.

Late in the fourth quarter the game took a dramatic turn as Poteet scored to take a 17-14 lead.

With only 2 minutes left in the game the Eagles got the miracle they were hoping for in a 60 yard pass from Rodgers to Zach Jackson. One play later the duo would connect again for 19 yards to give Lake Ridge a late 20-17 lead.

Lake Ridge would go on to earn the miracle win as Poteet would miss a game tying field goal with only 3 seconds left on the clock.
