Lake Ridge takes on Timberview during the annual Black Out game.

The Lake Ridge Eagles were ‘blacked out’ against Timberview on Friday night in a heated district game at Newsom Stadium for the annual ‘black out’ game.

The Eagles were able to keep their game going into the half; only down by 7 with a halftime score of 14-7. However, that’s as close as the Eagles would get to the Wolves, eventually losing 35-7.

The usually high scoring Eagle’s offense was held to only 280 total yards, 183 passing and 97 rushing. Jason Bean, junior, led the Eagle’s running attack with 74 yards rushing on 13 carries, while Cartraven Walker, junior, had 64 yards receiving and a touchdown. However, 5 turnovers and numerous penalties would cost the Eagles in the end.

On the defensive side of the ball, junior, Ricky Jessie, led the way with 7 total tackles. This was not enough to stop the nickel and dime attack of the Wolves who built an insurmountable lead, including a clock eating 8 minute drive in the 4th quarter to seal the victory.

The Eagles will face a must win showdown on their final game of the season on the road against Waxahachie on Friday November 4th. The Eagles will be needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
