Eagles Compete at Kowbell Tennis Tournament
The Eagles Tennis Team competed in the Kowbell Tennis Tournament Thursday, Mar. 23, 2017. Legacy hosted the tournament, while MISD offered the sites for each event at every high school. The Lake Ridge Tennis Team competed hard, knowing that districts is approaching. This tournament was a great sneak peek of what competition will look like as districts get closer.
Sophomores Luisa Dalton and Hope Martin played doubles together. Dalton was proud to have a hardworking partner along side her.
“Honestly it feels great, at times you don’t always play your best when it counts, but today me and Hope were able to do so and we ended up finishing first,” Dalton said.
Junior, Preston Bennett, favors mixed doubles and was able to work hard and compete well along side his partner Emily Nguyen, Sophomore.
“I’ve played mixed most of the season, it’s my favorite, but its important that you build good connections with your partner to play well, and today we worked hard together and ended up third,”Bennett said.
Kennedy Cook, freshmen, who finished second in the varsity singles bracket, believes that her game is where it needs to be right now in order to perform her best when it really matters later this season.
“With how I’ve been playing at the tournaments and at practice, I’m confident I’ll have myself a goos showing at districts”, Cook said.
The Eagles Tennis Team had a great showing at the Kowbell Tournament, filled with great performances from our athletes who have worked very hard to come up with such great results. This tournament marked the last J.V. competition until districts. The varsity team will be competing out of town in the Rutter Invitational Tournament at Rudder High School, located in Bryan, TX, which is near College Station. Following the out of town tournament, the varsity team will be competing in districts next week.
