Humans of Lake Ridge
Being class president has affected me in a variety of ways. It’s rewarding and exciting to be a part of this amazing team. I really do enjoy it. It’s rewarding because it adds more purpose to my life and adds a needed sense of necessity to me. Having this chance has rewarded me by bestowing a few responsibilities onto me that continue my drive and search to better our student body. However, there are some downsides. It is kind of stressful because there are things to get done that are not necessarily easy to achieve. There are pressures and demands of the students that aren’t or can’t always be met. Sometimes students aren’t able to really understand that in order to get what you want there needs to be compromise and that can be really hard on me and the rest of the officers. We have to make some tough decisions that some students may not like. Even with the downsides I wouldn’t change my decision to run. Students don’t get to express their voice in the school where they spend most of their adolescence. I wanted to be that voice. Being the new kid when I ran was hard. I didn’t think I was going to win. I didn’t even think anyone knew who I was, but when I won I didn’t feel like the new girl anymore. I felt like I was needed.
