Duncanville, TX – On Saturday, Oct. 22, sixteen of the best marching bands in Texas gathered at the Panthers Stadium in the 23rd Annual Duncanville Marching Invitational for a battle of musical supremacy between 5a and 6a divisions.

Bands from as far away as Keller and Dripping Springs joined the Lake Ridge Marching Band in preliminary performances that would rank the bands into the top 10.  Only the top 10 qualifying bands move on to finals competition.  Lake Ridge finished 3rd in Division 5a behind the bands from Waxahachie and Dripping Springs and would enter and finish the finals competition ranked 7th overall.

Bradley Bonebrake, Band Director, was extremely proud of how the band performed.

“Congratulations to our students for finishing their competitive marching season with two absolutely incredible performances at yesterday’s Duncanville Marching Invitational. It was so rewarding to see the genuine exhilaration in their eyes and the ear-to-ear smiles on their faces as they exited the field after both performances,” he explained.

“As the marching season began in August, we set many goals for ourselves. Above all, we set a very central, simple, and essential goal. That goal was to simply make each performance better than the previous one, whether that be during a rehearsal, at a football game, or at a marching contest. Our students have been so invested for such a long time in continually creating their best possible performance individually and collectively, and it was extremely fitting that they concluded yesterday’s finals competition performance knowing that they had just had their absolute best performance of the season. Up against many of the best marching bands and most established band programs in the state, our students definitely held their own and made a dramatic statement that our group is a force with which to be contended moving into the future finishing in 7th place overall. We are already making plans for next marching season and cannot wait to see what we can do next,” Bonebrake continued.

The competition also marked the last marching program for the graduating senior members.
