Coming off a bye week, the Lake Ridge Eagles are facing a tough opponent. In week 7 of the Lake Ridge Eagles schedule, they will be squaring off against one of their major rivals, Mansfield Timberview High School.
Mansfield Lake Ridge High School has been opened since 2012, and ever since, all of the sports teams have been roughing it out. The first year Lake Ridge was opened, their Varsity football team went 0-10. They never even scored more than 7 points until their last game against Mansfield Legacy High School where they still lost 49-21. Over the past few years Lake Ridge High School’s Varsity football team has gotten extremely better.

From the season of 12-13 to this season of 15-16 the LRHS Varsity football team has improved tremendously! From their 12-13 season of going 0-10 to this season of being 5-0 a lot of people would say the Eagles success reflects the way they go about each day.

“We just try being 1-0 each and every day,” says the Eagles head coach Kirk Thor. By not focusing on what will happen the next day and just on the present, the Varsity football team of Lake Ridge High School can go day by day getting better.

Not only is the Lake Ridge Varsity football team led by their head coach Kirk Thor, but the team has some tremendous leaders as well. Their starting quarterback, Jett Duffey, has proved to be an amazing athlete and an amazing leader. Duffey has committed to going to Texas Tech University once he graduates this year. Going to the defensive side of the ball, the starting inside linebacker Jack Lechman has had many offers such as Northeastern State and Sam Houston State. Lechman has proven to be a valuable teammate; so far in the season he has had 52 tackles (20-solo, 26-assisted, 4-TFL, 2-sacks, 2-PBU, 1-FR, 1-CF).

The Lake Ridge High School Varsity football team has greatly improved over the years. By the leadership of their head coach Kirk Thor and the great athleticism of many of their athletes has created an undefeated team, possible of achieving playoffs and maybe even more. We’ve seen how they’ve been doing so far I wonder how they will do in their upcoming games. Especially their upcoming rival game against Mansfield Timberview High School.
