Jett Duffey is all smiles after a playoff win at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

Lake Ridge football phenom Jett Duffey was named winner of the 2015 Tom Landry Award, presented annually to the top player in North Texas.

During Lake Ridge’s 5A run which fell just short of a state title, the dual threat quarterback passed for 2,680 yards and 29 touchdowns and rushed for 1,667 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Duffey told DFW.com that 100 percent of the credit goes to his teammates.

“Without them making the catches and without them doing those things they do on Friday nights and sometimes Saturday nights, I wouldn’t be here,” said Duffey.

Beating out four other finalists, including Mansfield High School running back Kennedy Brooks, Duffey accepted the award at the Hope Center in Plano in December.

One of the nation’s top quarterback recruits, Duffey will play at Texas Tech next season.

After going 13-0, Lake Ridge was defeated by George Ranch Ridge 56-0 in the Class 5A Division I championship game in Houston Dec. 18.
