Lady Eagle Swimming Ends Season at State
The Lake Ridge Lady Eagles swim team finished their season with their bid at the state championships in Austin at the UT Texas Swim Center on Feb. 19-20. The team competed in individual as well as team events.
Kylie Sheppard, sophomore, came in 16th place for the women’s 100 yard butterfly. “I was extremely excited and nervous because there were colleges there,” she explained before she plunged into the water.
Teammate Khadijah Brown, freshman, is proud that the team recorded their fastest times. “We didn’t place as high as we wanted to but we did get best times, so we were happy with that,” Brown said. One of Brown’s favorite moments during the finals was when “everyones watching you, they have music playing for you, so it was really intense.”
Rhiannan Boseman, sophomore, enjoyed her second state championship experience. “Swimming with some of the best people in the state was one of the best feelings,” explained Boseman, who swam on the relay team.
Overall, the 200 yard medley relay team took 16th place. The relay team consisted of: Rhiannan Boseman, sophomore, Khadijah Brown, freshman, Karolina Khudanyan, senior and Kylie Sheppard, sophomore. In the 200 yard freestyle relay worked together to pull a solid 14th place and in the 400 yard freestyle relay the team placed 16th.
