The Eagles Basketball Team defeated the Midlothian Panthers 73-58, for there second straight district win.

The game consisted of many flashy lay ups by senior guard, Mike Adewmuni and multiple threes shot by Nate Martinez, junior guard and Tahlik Chavez, sophomore guard.

” I was in attack mode and I wasn’t going to let anyone stop me from getting to the basket, it was a big game and I wanted to get our first home game win of the season,” Adewmuni said.

The Eagles were in control from the beginning, getting a quick ten point lead just a few minutes into the first quarter.

Kyron Smith, junior guard, wanted this win from the opening tip.

“Midlothian was picked over us in the district rankings, and I took that personally,” Smith said.

At halftime the Eagles led by ten points but weren’t done scoring.

“We couldn’t let up, although we had a lead, they could’ve came back. Coach told us to fight for 16 more minutes and we’ll come out on top,” Sebastian Karwoski, senior center said.

The fourth quarter started with the Eagles up by 8 and then Nate Martinez delivered a blow to the Midlothian hopes by hitting a 3 pointer in the corner that pushed the lead to double digits.

“I caught the ball in rhythm and I was confident I was going to knock it down. It was a big shot and after the momentum changed and they knew we were determined to get the win,” Martinez said.

The Eagles move to 2-2 in district, and will visit the Legacy Broncos on Friday at 8 p.m.
