JV Winterguard Shines at Regional Championship
Lake Ridge JV Winterguard took to the floor in their final competition of the season at the NCTA Regional Championships on Saturday, March 25, at Marcus High School in Flower Mound, TX.
The team placed 4th in the Regional A Division and posted their highest score of the season with 79.59 overall.
Winterguard Director, Curtis Redman, was proud of the team and their season ending performance.
“I am beyond proud of the Junior Varsity this season. It’s amazing to see a group full of new students have a successful season compared to other schools that have been doing guard for years. I hope if anything, the students learned that it’s not about the destination they sought out but the journey to get there,” Redman explained.
The performance also marked the last competition for Anya Marcelin, senior.
“I can’t tell you how proud I am of how much we have all grown and how we will continue to grow even if out season is over. I am proud to call myself a member of the Lake Ridge High School JV Winterguard,” Marcelin expressed.
Freshman Winterguard member, Madison Silva, reflected on how the season has progressed.
“Our group of 12 people, with only four veterans and eight newbies, has come so far throughout the season. Thanks to our amazing instructors, Mr. Redman and Ms. York, our skills have gotten better and we have grown as a team to where we are basically a family. I could not have wished for better teammates and friends. I could not have wished for a better season,” Silva said.
The varsity Winterguard team performs at Regionals on Saturday, April 1, in Ft. Worth, TX.
The JV and Varsity Winterguard teams will head into Ensemble/Solo competition the end of April.
