Easter picnic scheduled at LRHS

Lake Ridge opens up their football fields every year for an annual Easter picnic, held by the Church on Rush Creek. People from all over the community are invited to come and join in on the fun of celebrating the holiday and socializing with each other.

Many Lake Ridge students attend the picnic every year and enjoy it every time.

“I go almost every year, and it’s always so fun. I always have a lot of fun playing games and really getting to just hang out with everyone within Mansfield,” said sophomore Dylan Thompson.

The students feel that the experience of the picnic has a big positive impact on the community.

“The sense of community and love that everyone always has at the picnic really shines through,” said sophomore Veronica Seder.

“I feel like the picnic gives the church an opportunity to reach out to people who might not normally come to church because it provides a more open area with other activities,” said senior Jensen Hendricks.

The picnic is filled with food, snowcone trucks, bounce houses, and lawn games. An Easter egg hunt is usually set up for the younger kids.

“I love getting to watch the little kids hunt for eggs! It is such a blast to see everyone in the community enjoying themselves,” said senior Shelby Rickerman.

“It’s a great way to just really get involved and get to know the people you talk to and work with everyday,” said Thompson.

“The bubble soccer they have there is also really great, I really enjoy it,” explained Hendricks.

The picnic is open to the community on Friday, April 14, at the Lake Ridge football fields, from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
