Aledo v. Lake Ridge Preview

The Lake Ridge Eagle varsity football team is now in the fifth round of the UIL 5A Division one playoffs, and they will be playing the Aledo Bearcats at Birdville’s FAAC. Aledo has won 5 of the last 6 state championships in our classification. Lake Ridge is (14-0) and Aledo is (13-1) with their one loss coming to the No. 1 5A team in Texas, the Cedar Park Timberwolves. Lake Ridge plays Aledo Friday December 11th at 7:30 P.M.

Aledo has had a tough defense all year as they have given up an average of 9 points per game this season, and recorded five shutouts this season. The Lake Ridge offense is averaging 55 points per game and has scored more than 50 points 9 of the 14 games this season.

Aledo has looked fundamentally sound on offense all season and they’re averaging 50 points per game this season, and scored more than 60 points 6 of the 14 games this season. The Lake Ridge defense gives up 27 points per game this season and has given up less than 20 points 5 times this season.

Head Coach, Kirk Thor said, “We have to play Lake Ridge football. If we do that,we can be satisfied with the results. Focus on the process and let the results take care of themselves.”

Lake Ridge and Aledo are two completely different teams: the slower tempo and balanced attack of Aledo, will face a Lake Ridge team who has a lot of general team speed and skill. This Friday night will be a true test for both teams, and it will be an exciting game.

Presale tickets are available at the front desk: $6 for students, $10 for adults or $12 per person at the gate.
