In June, President Donald Trump said that he would ban TikTok in U.S. app stores because China is allegedly stealing information from U.S. users.

A lot of Danny Jones students use TikTok to make videos of themselves dancing, videos that are just funny, and viral challenges.

Seventh-grader Sean Wilson said that he thinks TikTok shouldn’t be banned.

“Too many people use the app that I think everybody would be outraged if it got banned,” he said.

Last year, TikTok was accused of stealing information from U.S. users and sending information to China.

Eighth-grader Matthew Miller believes that China isn’t using the platform to steal information because TikTok is very secure.

“There is no information that China will steal from TikTok,” he said. “TikTok is a high maintenance app and has high security.”

According to CNBC, 50 million people use TikTok on a daily basis. Most students believe that TikTok shouldn’t be banned but some think otherwise.

Eighth-grader Ava Slindee believes TikTok should be banned because it is inappropriate for kids.

“TikTok is a bad influence, it has older teenagers dancing inappropriately and the world is changing because of it,” she said.
