Megan Thee Stallion has recently released a track titled “Hiss” in which it has been widely speculated that she was referring to Nicki Minaj. Minaj responded with her own track, “Big Feet,” which seemed to mock Stallion’s appearance. The altercation has been all over social media recently.
There are many reasons why people think they have animosity in general, like Stallion being friends with rapper Cardi B., who Minaj is said to dislike because of their past together. Another reason is Stallion declining a collaboration with Minaj because of Cardi B. The biggest reason that has led most people to think this track is targeted is because Stallion mentions Megan’s law in her diss track, a federal law according to California Department of Law that “require(s) the release of relevant information to protect the public from sexually violent offenders.” It is speculated by fans that this was targeted towards Minaj because her husband is a sex offender. With this information many believe this is what made Minaj upset, including junior Brooke Jackson.
“I feel what launched the animosity more was the line that Stallion said, most likely it made Minaj feel like her husband was personally being attacked and she felt like she has to protect him at all cost,” said Jackson.
While some people may find the altercation between these two women entertaining. Others may think it is ridiculous, such as freshman Saniya Guillory.
“I feel like this shouldn’t be happening in the first place, they are both grown women they should try to talk it out in private or something cause taking it out in public on social media is just stupid in my opinion,” said Guilroy.
Although they are fighting at the moment, many did not expect this to happen since there haven’t been any previous signs that indicate they are hateful toward each other. When Guiliory first heard about the altercation, she did not expect there would be a conflict.
“I didn’t think this would happen. There hasn’t been any real animosity towards each other that I have seen. I expected them to handle it like grown women or better than they have because Nicki has handled it as childish,” said Guilroy.
Some people believe that the Stallion track was not even a true diss but rather just a track towards many other rappers. Moreover, the Nicki diss track was also open and they could tell who she was talking about (aka Stallion), which many feel was very messed up, due to her making references to how Stallion got shot in the foot or her dead mother. Junior Ma’kiyah Celestine felt Stallion’s track was more for everyone rather than being targeted toward one person, while Minaj’s track was more targeted.
“My thoughts on each track are probably that with Stallion’s track, I feel maybe she was more truthful. She didn’t name names. So if you knew who you were, you’re who you are. So yeah, if the shoe fits. But with the Minaj track, I kind of feel like she went more cutthroat with it. She knew who she was talking about. She made fun of the fact that Stallion doesn’t have her mom to make fun of the fact that she got shot in the foot so I feel like that was more harsh than Stallion,” said Celestine.
As a result of Minaj’s internet reaction to the situation, some think Stallion handled the situation more effectively than Minaj. Junior Lex Jones feels the same way.
“If you look on social media there hasn’t been any response from Stallion which shows she’s been handling it better cause if you look at Minaj she’s been all over Twitter just talking bad on Stallion,” said Jones.
Overall, Stallion’s altercation with Minaj could go on for longer or it might end. As of now there hasn’t been any response back from Stallion.
