When it comes to music, there are multiple different genres. Rap, hip-hop, RnB, Jazz, Blues, and so much more. Artists release new albums quite often, and one that has caused a ton of commotion is Tyler the Creator’s new album, “CHROMAKOPIA”.
With the release date being October 28th, this album has already risen to the top of streaming platforms, and fans have gone crazy. After not releasing anything for 2 years, the big statement was …who’s going to like this new album. Sophomore Abigail Milligan gave her insight into what she thought about this album.
“I thought it was very well put together,” Milligan said. “I think he spent a lot of time and effort into his lyrics, and I think this was a more personal album for him, and not just catering to fans, but catering to the stuff he wants to make.”
This album consists of 14 tracks each varying from rap to hip hop. Fans like Sophomore Azrael Green appreciated the small details and beats that Tyler used that made the album.
“It was great. It was very peak. There’s so much going on, and the lyricism as well as the symbolism of it is immaculate.” Green said.
Another surprise that shocked fans was the fact that Frank Ocean was possibly featured in the album. Frank has been “gone” since the peak of his career, and according to the saint.news.com, they say that he could possibly be in the middle of producing something none of us expected or taking a break due to opening himself up too much to the spotlight.
“The reasons behind Ocean’s sudden absence remains a mystery, with many wondering if this retreat is once again a prelude to a new artistic endeavor or a deeper personal journey,” the saint.news.com stated. “The glare of the spotlight can be overwhelming. Ocean, with his intensely personal lyrics, opened himself up to millions worldwide. The emotional toll of such vulnerability, paired with the demands of fame, might have made solitude and privacy all the more appealing.”
Freshman Imani Mason and Sophomore Abigail Milligan expressed their excitement hearing that Frank Ocean was featured on this album, revealing that this was no surprise to them.
“Tyler has made numerous songs with Frank Ocean, and a lot of people were like if Frank Ocean is not on there, then I am not listening to it, but that’s a lie.” Mason said. “Frank Ocean, oh my god, I miss him. I swear I hear him. And some people will say, “Oh he’s not in it, or he’s not actually there, But trust guys, I hear him.” Milligan also said.
Tyler the Creator has a total of 8 albums. With each being released in a timespan of 2 years, his first album was ‘Goblin’ which was released in 2011. This prompted the next release of ‘Wolf’ in 2013, followed by ‘Cherry Bomb’ in 2015, then came ‘Flower Boy’ in 2015, ‘IGOR’ in 2019, ‘CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST: The Estate Sale’ in 2021, and finally 3 years later, he released the album that is out now ‘CHROMAKOPIA’, in 2024. Most of his albums have features and a distinct beat to them, and when asked what the best one was Sophomore Madison Leddy and Azrael Green didn’t hesitate to tell us their opinions.
“Igor was my favorite album of his. The lyrics in this album are a hit.” Leddy said. “Like him was my favorite song off the album.” Green said. “The wolf trilogy. It’s insane, I like it.
Tyler the Creator’s new album has already been topping the charts with the hit song “Sticky” featuring Glorilla, Sexyy Red, and Lil Wayne, and it is the most hyped song so far on Tiktok. With this album already getting so much recognition, it’s no surprise that he’s embarking on his tour which kicks off February 4th. Abigail Milligan stated that she was also in the queue to get tickets.
“I’m trying to get tickets, but the American Express card holders are the only people that can get early access so it’s kind of hard to get tickets, but even if it’s the nosebleeds, I still really want to go,” Milligan stated.
Tyler the Creator has released a multitude of hits when it comes to music. This album has topped the charts since its release and it looks like it has no intention of stopping. From Goblin to Chromakopia, Tyler the Creator is a lyrical genius when it comes to everything.
