Super Bowl LIX, is the 59th American Football championship game, hosted in New Orleans, Louisiana. This year it was AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs and the NFC Philadelphia Eagles. The Apple Music Super Bowl halftime show has chosen Artist Kendrick Lamar to perform , and his guest singer is SZA.
Jaden Green, an 11th grader, expresses his anticipation for the Super Bowl, favoring the Eagles over the Chiefs despite acknowledging the Chiefs strengths, including players like Rashad and Pacheco. He is excited to see Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show, predicting he will perform “Not Like Us,” “Humble,” “DNA,” and possibly “All the Stars.” Green hopes Kendrick will bring out Tyler or Rihanna. He envisions Kendricks entrance as smooth and interpretive, potentially in the colors white or red.
“I think it’s a rivalry, that you know, it’s been long awaited for since 2023. I hope the Eagles beat them because I’m tired of seeing the Chiefs win. I want to say the Eagles will win, but in my mind, I’m kind of saying the Chiefs because I know the refs and the way that they call things. I’m excited to see Kendrick, but most specifically SZA, that’s who I’m excited for,” said Green.
General Mason Starks, an 11th grader, discusses the merits of the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles making it to the Super Bowl, emphasizing their hard-earned success. He expresses a desire to see Mahomes achieve a three-peat and predicts the Chiefs as the winning team. Mason has a detailed prediction about the upcoming halftime show, and believes Kenrick Lamar, SZA, and Drake will all perform together. Mason believes Kendrick will sing “Twice” and possibly “Luther,” he reminisced about last year’s halftime show and concluded by praising Kendrick Lamar’s successful year.
“I think both teams kind of fought for it, like throughout the regular season. Not to be a bandwagon or anything but the Chiefs I want to see a three beat, but that’s never been done. I most definitely approve of the halftime show, I actually have this big prediction that I think was gonna happen. Kendricks is gonna come out, perform one of his big ticket songs, SZA will come out and they will sing a song they have together. The stage is gonna go black and then the stage is gonna open up and Drake comes out,” said Mason.
Cedric Baker, a freshman, expresses his excitement for the Super Bowl, and his favoritism for the Kansas City Chiefs. Baker wants to see Mahomes win a third Super Bowl ring, and wants to see him bring his team to victory. He also explained his contentness to see Kendrick Lamar perform, and hopes to see him play the songs “Tv off,” “Humble,” or “All the Stars,” with SZA, along with the hope of Kendrick bringing out Tyler the Creator.
“I can’t wait to see the Super Bowl because I love the Chiefs, they are my favorite NFL team and Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback ever. If the Chiefs win, that’ll be a third ring for Mahomes. And the halftime show is going to be great even though Kendrick wouldn’t have been my first choice to perform. I’m glad he announced SZA as his guest singer but maybe he will have a surprise guest, many suspect Tyler which i wouldn’t be mad about,” saif Baker.
Jaliyah Johnson, a freshman, explained her lack of interest due to the 2 teams playing. She believes it should’ve been the Washington Commanders and the Buffalo Bills, and due to them not playing, Johnson will only watch the Super Bowl for the halftime performance. She is especially excited for Kendrick Lamar to bring out her personal favorite artist SZA.
“Honestly. I’m not excited for the SuperBowl at all. I was originally cheering for the Bills and the Commanders to make it because I thought it would be better than the Chiefs and Eagles, which is a given we’ve seen before. So I’m only watching to see the halftime show, and mostly just SZA because she’s my favorite artist. I love her and I know she’s gonna do so good,” said Johnson.
Abby Montgomery, a senior, is a die hard Eagles fan, who is thrilled to see her team play in the Superbowl. Montgomery believes her team will win by large numbers, explaining that the Eagles worked hard to get here and congratulated their success. Montgomery is also satisfied with Kendrick Lamar performing at the halftime show, and claims she thinks it’ll send a good message, waiting to see if everyone will enjoy it as much as she will.
“ I can’t wait for my Philadelphia Eagles to go to the Super Bowl, we have worked so hard to get here and I’m hoping we will beat the Chiefs again and not have to relive the Super Bowl in 2023. The Chiefs need to be humbled and actually lose for once. Also Kendrick? So excited to see him, I was glad he was chosen and I know he will put on an amazing performance, I just hope everyone will enjoy it as much as I know I will,” said Montgomery.
As the Super Bowl approaches, everyone is waiting and anticipating to see whether or not the Kansas City Chiefs or the Philadelphia Eagles take the win. Also many peoples excitement to see how Kendrick Lamar comes out, sets up his preforms, and what songs he will sing.
