Eagles Football: The Lancaster Tigers
For the first time in school history your Lake Ridge Eagles varsity football team beat the Lancaster Tigers 48-27.
The defense played a major role this week, as they forced 5 turnovers, and scored on two of them, an interception return by Bryson Jackson, and a fumble recovery by Patrick Johnson.
The Eagle offense was electrifying, scoring 5 touchdowns, Jett Duffey had a passing touchdown going to Jabari Ford,Duke Carter also had a rushing touchdown, and Gerard McClain had another three touchdown game.
“It’s a good victory for our student-athletes,school, and Lake Ridge community, Head Coach Kirk Thor said. “Our players have worked hard and our fans have been patient. To see them enjoy a win on homecoming makes it special for me, this win is something this school will never forget.”
This week was a crazy week, it was homecoming, multiple local news companies covered the game, and not to mention Lancaster was the No.1 team in 5A for the DFW metroplex, so it wasn’t a typical game day, but that never phased this team.
The story of this game goes beyond the scoreboard, after back to back heartbreaking loses to Lancaster (35-34-2013, and 21-18-2014), they’ve finally gotten a win over a good team. Now, your Eagles are the No. 1 team in 5A for the DFW metroplex; the No. 2 5A team in Texas; the No. 15 team in all of Texas; and ranked No. 88 in the U.S.
It’s a special time to be an Eagle so soar into the stand, and scream for your team.
