Opinion: What Has This Season Meant to Me?

The Lake Ridge offense in action during a 2015 regular season game.

For the first time in Lake Ridge’s short history we have advanced to the fourth round, and me being a part of this team it has given me a once in a lifetime experience.

So far this season I have played in a No.1 v No. 2 matchup when we beat Lancaster on homecoming, played in an epic battle of two undefeated teams when we beat Summit on senior night, went 10-0 and won a District 14-5A championship, and played at AT&T Stadium.

Off the field I have made Coach Thor a local celebrity for his dance moves, and I’ve been nominated for academic all state award in football.

All of those things are great, but the best thing that has happened to me senior year is just being on this team. I take great pride in wearing a green, black, or white jersey with Lake Ridge across the top and going to war with the most incredible group of guys in the state. I’ve spent all four years of high school playing football, and this season all of my work has payed off, I may not be a starter, but it’s not about my playing time it’s about the guys I play with, and seeing Coach Thor dap it up like Cam Newton in the locker room.

I’ve been working for this point in the season since last season ended, and my favorite memories of this season are not when I played, but running through the tunnel for the season opener against Cleburne, the atmosphere at the Summit game, and the once in a lifetime opportunity to play at AT&T Stadium. These are some of the small things I’ll remember from this incredible season that we will never forget.
