The Lake Ridge Junior Varsity tennis team retained their undefeated record when the team won by the overall team score of 10-9 in their third match of the season against Midlothian on Thursday, Sept.22, at the Midlothian high school tennis courts.
Brandon Tremaine, freshman, won his singles match 8-1, and is having a strong season thus far as a new addition to the team. “ I really enjoy being on the team so far, I had a great match today, felt confident, and had a really good time,” Tremaine said.
A new addition on the girls team, Constance Lampkin, freshman, won her singles match 8-4. While letting go of a few points, she was able to comeback and pull off the win. “ I started off the match by losing a few points, but I played hard and got those points back, I know I’ll do better the next time I play,” Lampkin said.
Terrence O’Neal, senior, and Diana Fernandez, sophomore, competed together in a mixed doubles match. The two won a nail biter, with a score of 8-8 and tiebreaker of 12-10. “ I was so nervous. Towards the end of the match, their was no room for mistakes, but I’m glad we pulled off the win,” O’Neal said.
