With Christmas right around the corner, many students have continuing traditions they do to celebrate the holiday. Christmas is widely celebrated in the United States and having different traditions makes the holiday special and unique for each family.

Mr.Olsen and his family have received gifts early every year.

“My family historically chooses a gift to open on Christmas Eve. It makes it special because with the rush of Christmas morning, everything blends together,” said Olsen.

Quinn Robben, junior, goes to St. Jude in celebration of Christmas.

“My family and I attend a church service every Christmas Eve at midnight,” said Robben.

Mrs. Morrill and her family have certain traditions they do because of the size of their family.

“Because we have so many children, we only give our kids four gifts each. Something they want, something they need, something they dream or wish for, and then something that is a surprise from ‘Santa'”, Morrill said.

“On Christmas Eve, we have a Christmas Eve dinner with family and then we go home and everybody gets a present that is a brand new pair of pajamas, along with a book and maybe a pair of socks and slippers. My husband and I sign the book on the inside and write a special thing that happened that year so that they can always have that memory,” said Morrill.

Savanna Peterson, freshman, just moved here from Utah over the summer, and had special traditions back home.

“In Utah, we used to go to my grandma’s house on Christmas Eve and open up cute Christmas pajamas,” Peterson said.

Phillip Anello, sophomore, and his family routinely have a movie marathon each year.

“On Christmas Eve, we have to watch all of the Home Alone’s, Polar Express, The Grinch, and A Christmas Story before the end of the night. It usually lasts from about 3:00p.m. to around midnight,” Anello said.

“We do this to remind each other of how important family is,” said Anello.
