Decisions, Decisions, Decisions…

College or Army? That’s a decision some Lake Ridge students are facing, and it’s no different with me. I am torn on whether I should further my education and pursue my dream, or put all of that aside to serve and protect the country. I really want to go to college and follow in the footsteps of my mom, but my dad wants me to go in a different way.

My dad wants me to go into the Army to do more with my life; travel the world, save lives, and meet new people. I like the idea of traveling and meeting new people, but I don’t want to risk my life and have my parents dealing with death. I want my parents to be proud of me, but the pressure of staying alive, and risking my life for others is killing me on the inside.

My mom believes I should go to college. I really want to major in communication and journalism and become a Sports Broadcaster. The college I have my eyes on is Kansas State University.

My ultimate decision would have to be going to college. The reason I chose to go to a university is because of the freedom and the activities I can accomplish at school. I can’t wait to go to college to explore and learn new areas of education. I really want to go to college because of the sports, parties, girls, and just a whole bunch of new friends and it is a great way to make my parents proud but it requires a lot of dedication and discipline.
